IOD works to achieve its basic objectives and purposes of developing and encouraging corporate directors in the practice of good corporate governance by organizing four main lines of activities that aim to:
- Develop professional knowledge and skills that enhance the capabilities of corporate directors.
- Stimulate innovative thinking in directors through opportunities for discussion and the exchange of ideas that have practical application.
- Promote fellowship and networking among members to share knowhow and experience.
- Survey and research topics and issues of relevance to corporate directorship and disseminate the results to members for guidance in the continuing development of good corporate governance in their organizations.

As an institute committee to its task of training directors, IOD organizes several key courses to provide the skills and knowledge of good corporate governance essential for board members to critically improve and continually develop their companies.
These courses are tailored to the needs of company directors such as:
- Directors Certification Program (DCP) - seeks to enhance the overall performance of directors, or
- Chairman 2000 - trains directors on how to optimize their position as chairman of board members.
Both programs are controlled and certified by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a distinguished and globally recognized institute that has been providing a variety of director courses for over thirty years. One such exclusive course includes training for Audit committee to improve the quality of supervision, auditing, risk management and the generation of an accurate and transparent financial report.
IOD also organizes other courses to equip directors with various skills required and also provides additional training for top executives and company secretaries to improve their performance in preparing and summarizing reports as they play a crucial role in assisting the optimization of company performance, such as:
- Finance for Non-Finance Directors Program
- Effective Audit Committees and Best Practices Program
- Company Secretary Program
IOD continually reviews and updates course contents and presentations to elevate standards of director professionalism and provide knowledge concerning the most recent issues in corporate governance and ethical management as well as make learning for IOD members an enjoyable experience. |

The Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD) ardently recognizes ongoing awareness of good corporate governance. In response to this continuously changing notion, not only must directors be developing the fundamental knowledge to perform their assumed duties, but they must also be resourceful in creative thinking, together with ingenious attitude, to skillfully apply good governance into their corporations. To accommodate this demanding proficiency in good governance, IOD institutes various programs to support the directors as follows:
Seminars and Workshops
The seminars focus on current changes in rules and regulations, as well as corporate governance issues faced by Thai directors. The seminars offer new ideas and aspects from various people and organizations involving in good corporate governance. As a consequence, the participated directors will be well position to discuss and fulfill their good governance obligations.
To further equip the directors with practical tools, corporate governance workshops are organized to assist the directors in applying the governance principles into practices more effectively and systematically.
Directors Forum
The Forum is designed for IOD’s members to meet and exchange their opinions on the duties and responsibilities of their directorships. Topics discussed are, for instance, the roles and duties of independent directors and their management associates. Discussions generated in the Forum provide governance guidelines to the directors to better improve their governance practices, as well as provide input for concerned agencies in formulating policy guidelines.
Research and Information Service
The IOD has made available the information on corporate governance and the directors’ roles and duties to its members. Information available includes research articles and reports and up-to-date domestic and international corporate governance news.

Member relation is responsible for the promotion and provision of various activities for members and media relations to attract members. It is also responsible for maintaining and building a good image for the institute.
TheMember activities serve as a forum for members to exchange knowledge and to build a network of company directors so that members can participate and become acquainted
Directors Luncheon Briefing
The briefing provides an opportunity for members to listen to presentations and lectures from reputable lecturers on topics of interests for members and serves as a forum for members to meet and exchange ideas and knowledge.
IOD Golf Challenge Cup
The Golf Challenge promotes closer friendship among members and provides entertainment, member bonding and prizes for members.

The Board Room is bi-monthly journal providing news on member activities and disseminate knowledge to members
Board Room Flash
Board Room flash provides e-mail service notifying members of important or interesting news from the Stock Exchange of Thailand, sent to member e-mail addresses.

IOD supervises several research activities and directors’ surveys related to corporate governance practices.
